Leigh-Ann Buchanan is from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Ms. Buchanan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from Bethune-Cookman University in 2005. She graduated from the University of Miami School of Law in 2009, where she was an active member of the University of Miami Moot Court Board, Mock Trial Team and a Staff Editor of the Black Law Review. While in school, Ms. Buchanan participated in numerous oral advocacy competitions, culminating with the First Place and Best Brief Awards for the 2009 National Security Law Competition in Washington, D.C. Ms. Buchanan was also a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert Mark, United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Florida and worked as a Certified Legal Intern for the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office.
